3 Simple Steps to Spring Clean Your Beauty Routine

March 21, 2022 — Chelsa Davis

Skincare Travel Habits Doʻs & Don'ts

Even if youʻre a little bit into skincare, you’ve probably thought a lot about exactly what type of products to bring on the plane. Do you go minimal and only bring a couple? Do you whip out your entire Ao Organics collection? Do you simply drink 100 gallons of water and hope for the best? With all the skincare travel tips floating around on the internet, I know how difficult and confusing it can be to navigate all that information. Needless to say, it can be difficult to choose the routine that actually makes sense for you—and to discern which tips are legitimate and which are, well, total BS. After doing my own research, and speaking with some skin experts, Iʻm going to share with you the skincare travel tips that are actually worth it and the ones you should probably skip on your next vacation.

Between the dirty cabin air with unnaturally dry air, change in humidity level, lack of sleep, and uptick in travel-induced stress, your skin becomes compromised [during travel], leading to breakouts. Even though breakouts while traveling may ultimately be impossible to ignore altogether, it’s still worth the effort to avoid as many of them as possible. Which is why I want to share these tips.

Do: Wear sunscreen—even in the air

“Airplane windows are typically made of polycarbonate plastic or layered composite glass,” New York City-based dermatologist Cherise Mizrahi-Levi told TPG. “While there is negligible transmission of UVB rays through plastic and glass windshields, UVA transmission through these windows is significant.”

Why is that important? Well, though you won’t necessarily get a sunburn since that’s caused primarily by UVB radiation, UVA rays penetrate the deeper layers of skin and are known to cause photoaging (sun spots and wrinkling). And since you’re closer to the ozone layer — almost six miles closer to be more exact — the sun’s rays are simply more powerful. Plus, extended exposure to UVA rays can contribute to the development of skin cancers.

Don't: Use a makeup wipe to remove your makeup

Makeup wipes are full of harsh and harmful chemicals that disrupt the pH balance of your skin and its acid mantle. The acid mantle is a protective layer of your skin that keeps out the dirt and impurities, and seals in the moisture and natural oils.

Instead reach for our Get Naked Makeup Remover, which is 2oz and TSA approved to be packed in your carry-on luggage. This oil gently melts away stubborn, waterproof makeup without stripping the skin's naturally protective barriers, leaving skin soothed, refreshed and balanced. It also dissolves impurities and cleanses skin without clogging pores, leaving your skin soft and radiant.

Do: Carry A Facial Mist Spray

This is a must-have for everyone! Whether you are on a weekend trip or a long vacay, never forget to carry a facial mist. It is hydrating and will keep your skin refreshed throughout your trip. When you spritz it on your face, you add moisture to your skin. This is especially helpful if you have dry and combination skin or if you are traveling to a colder climate.

We have three Facial Mists to choose from:

Rose Water Toner: For Sensitive Skin

Hibiscus Mist Toner: For Dry or Combination Skin

'Ōlena & Honey Facial Toner: For Acne Prone, Oily, & Combination Skin

Donʻt: Avoid Touching Your Face Often

Keeping your hands off your face helps minimize breakouts. Strictly abide by this rule when traveling. This is because you might pick up unknown bacteria that can cause multiple skin issues. Wash your hands with an antibacterial hand wash or sanitizer as much as possible.

Do: Bring Your Favorite Facial Cleanser

A facial cleanser is more important than your serums and under eye creams. A daily cleanser makes sure that at the end of the day, your skin is devoid of dirt, pollution, and impurities. Unclean skin is a strict no-no wherever you are!

All of our Cleansers in the 2oz size are TSA approved for your carry-on so you never have to leave home without it.

Don’t: Forget Moisturizer

A good face moisturizer helps maintain your skin’s health. It keeps your skin hydrated, which prevents breakouts and skin issues caused by excessive dryness. Remember to moisturize your skin before you board your flight. The air inside planes is drying and can damage your skin.

Our Ili Hydration Moisturizer is the perfect daily moisturizer for all skin types, including combination and dry, irritated skin with eczema and psoriasis, ‘Ili is specifically formulated to keep your skin hydrated, supple, and flawless.

Do: Skip Makeup

Whether you are about to board your flight or check out some tourist spots, makeup is a strict no-no. Many prefer using a tinted moisturizer while traveling, but it is better to stick to your daily day cream and SPF to let your skin breathe. This is because the changing weather conditions and atmosphere may cause your skin to break out.

The Benefits of Masking: 5 Ways our Facial Masks can improve your skin

The Benefits of Masking: 5 Ways our Facial Masks can improve your skin

Did you know using a facial mask is one of the easiest ways to get healthy and supple skin within a few minutes. Our 'Alaea Detoxifying Clay Mask and Green Goddess Mask are so easy to apply, fun to use, and are one of my favorite skincare rituals that always leaves my skin feeling soft, toned, and tightened after every use.

Should everyone use a face mask? Absolutely. Face masks are the perfect skin care treatment to help you with your skin care concerns. The right face mask can help hydrate skin, remove excess oils and help improve the appearance of your pores. They’re also an excellent way to help pull out impurities. Another advantage of wearing a face mask: the feeling of being pampered like you’re at a spa from the comfort of your own home.

In this blog, we will review the 5 main benefits of our 'Alaea Detoxifying Clay Mask & Green Goddess Cleanser

1. Help Clear Your Skin

Through the course of the day, your skin encounters many pollutants, such as dirt, oil, dust, and many other impurities that can accumulate on your skin, ultimately leaving it to be rough and giving your pores a larger appearance.

It can cause skin cells to die as these pollutants accumulate on your skin’s surface. When these aren’t dealt with properly, it may lead to a breakout in the foreseeable future.

It is the primary reason that exfoliation is recommended to be carried out regularly to keep your skin clean and get rid of any pollutants that might want to stick around.

Agreed that it is kind of disgusting to think about, but it’s natural, and it happens to everybody. So, one of those days, when you feel your skin isn’t glowing like it used to, grab your Green Goddess or 'Alaea Detoxifying Clay mask.

2. Brightens Your Skin

You can’t help but wonder why you look sort of dull today – it’s time to put our 'Alaea Detoxifying Clay Mask to work. Your skin may look dull because of clogged up pores that can hide the real look of your skin – which in itself is due to lack of skin maintenance and exfoliation.

We found that using our clay mask for a mere ten minutes multiple times a week may significantly help your skin health and leave it looking bright and fresh.

3. Great for Hydrating Dry Skin

Even if you have great clear skin, your skin, being the largest organ of your body, still needs a tad bit care – that care presents itself in the form of moisture. Your skin is a sucker for moisture.

Our Green Goddess is formulated with Raw Hawaiian Honey to clear clogged pores, while moisturizing and nourishing your skin.

4. FIRMER SKIN

Loose skin can make your look older than your age. Both our Green Goddess & 'Alaea Clay Mask contain ingredients help to enhance collagen production and fight off free radical damage which will gradually result in firmer, tighter, fresher looking skin.

5. Restores the Skin Balance

You’ve been following me this far; you definitely have some sort of interest, and that may be either you’re genuinely interested, or you still haven’t found what you were looking for.

If that’s the case, then maybe you have combination skin – skin that is too oily or has no oil at all, or maybe either incredibly prone to acne or very resistant.

Either way, it’s giving you grief. It usually occurs when your skin’s internal balance is off. Our Green Goddess Mask can be a godsend in such scenarios as it leaves your skin neither very dry nor irritated.

5 Reasons why you should Sugar Scrub

5 Reasons why you should Sugar Scrub

Just like your face, your body needs exfoliation to stay soft, smooth, and healthy. If your current body care is limited to a loofah and a bar of soap, it’s time to level up. Here’s everything you need to know about adding an exfoliating body scrub to your skin care routine and the reasons why you should be sugar scrubbing.

What Is A Body Scrub?

Body scrubs are physical exfoliants that mechanically slough away dead skin cells. The feel of a “scrub” typically comes from a combination of sugar and/or salt that is suspended in an oil base. While some scrubs (particularly of the DIY variety) contain coarse salt and sugar particles, higher-quality varieties are formulated with fine, premium particles that polish skin without being abrasive.

5 Reasons why you should Sugar Scrub

1. Sugar Scrub Exfoliates Your Skin

You might be unsure of what “exfoliation” is. It’s when you remove the outer layer of dead skin cells. Essentially, it gently encourages cell turnover and brings healthier skin to the surface.

Sugar granules are rounder and less abrasive than salt, making them a gentler exfoliant. A natural source of glycolic acid (an AHA), sugar breaks down layers of dead skin and smooths the skin’s surface. It also speeds up rehydration, keeping skin conditioned and moisturized. For this reason, sugar scrubs are a fantastic pick for dry and dehydrated types.

2. Get an even tan - Real or Fake

When you exfoliate before you go play in the sun or get a fake spray tan, it helps both the “real” and “fake” tan last longer! Since the old layer of dead skin cells was exfoliated away, the fake tan and or suntan looks smoother and even.

*AO GLOW Skin tip: Use our Awapuhi Vanilla Sugar Scrub before going to the beach or pool and use one of our Reef Safe Tanning Oils to elevate your tan.

3. Helps To Avoid or Remove Pesky Ingrown Hairs

One way to treat yourself is to use our Awapuhi Vanilla Sugar Salt Scrub before shaving. When you use the scrub, it can help unclog pores and remove textured skin that can lead to those pesky ingrown hairs.

4. Helps To Remove Toxins

No matter how well we take care of our body and skin, there’s always outside factors we can’t control: UV rays, pollution, pesticides—they all contribute to premature aging. Using our Awapuhi Vanilla Sugar Salt Scrub is formulated with 'Alaea salt, which can help rid your skin of those daily toxins and keep you looking and feeling youthful.

'Alaea Salt also has detoxifying properties: Its trace minerals are natural purifiers that draw out pore-clogging toxins and relieve congestion. This action invigorates the skin, promoting more efficient circulation and healthy skin cell turnover.

5. Sugar Body Scrub Removes Dry Bits

Enough said, right? Sugar + oil + dry skin = nourished and smooth skin. A lot of people think they shouldn’t use body scrubs if they have dry skin. Well, they’re wrong! Body scrubs remove dead skin cells and then moisturize with oil. It’s a perfect formula.

Pamper your skin and have an at-home spa day treat every week with our Awapuhi Vanilla Sugar Scrub & Body Lotion.

10 Ways You Can Help the Earth This Earth Day

10 Ways You Can Help the Earth This Earth Day

When it comes to sustainability at Ao Organics Hawaii and even in my own personal life, we are not perfect, but progress is better than perfection–that's why we say "earth-friendly," not "earth-perfect."

What is sustainability?

It is “avoidance of the depletion of natural resources in order to maintain an ecological balance,” but I like to say it’s anything that helps people or the planet during the process. Even in our small acts of recycling, repurposing, or reusing things, you make a difference!

Our sunscreens come in eco-friendly and compostable push up sticks. You can also now shop for refills with aluminum caps, and save your plastic tops to minimize plastic waste.

We even offer refills to our customers who save their bottles and want to bring them in for refills in our store.

In an effort to be more sustainable at Ao Organics Hawaii, we offer several different types of reusable or recyclable packaging. We started a refill program back in 2018, and at all of our events we would remind our customers to save their tanning oil bottles to be refilled.

We are now in a few different refill shops as well, you can find Ao Organics in Bulk Bars on Oahu and coming soon to the Big Island too. When we pack our orders, we source recycled materials and reuse all boxes and packaging that comes in. Though these are small steps toward sustainability, we hope together we can make a large impact and difference.

What is Earth Day?

Earth Day takes place every April 22. It’s a day to dedicate some extra time, thought, and care to how we treat our ʻāina. Many neighborhoods and workplaces even hold events to educate and inspire communities to take steps towards a healthier planet.

It’s not fun to think about, but it’s important to remember that we need our planet more than it needs us. Earth Day is an important reminder of how fragile our world is and how important it is to take care of it. While every day is a great day to take care of the Earth, April 22 is a way to remind ourselves and others of how simple it can be to live in a planet-friendly way.

10 Ways You Can Help Mother Earth on Earth Day!

1. Plant something

Make the world greener by planting something. Trees help clear the air, produce oxygen and will even improve your property value. Consider starting a vegetable garden to help reduce reliance on pesticide-heavy conventionally farmed foods. If you don't have a garden, consider composting your food waste–that's also a start!

2. Explore responsible skincare

Conventionally manufactured skincare products contain ingredients that are both bad for you and the environment. Making the switch to natural and clean beauty products keeps harmful ingredients out of the water, all while giving you healthier skin!

3. Support businesses that use eco-friendly packaging

Packaging waste can really build up, especially irresponsible packaging waste. Use this Earth Day as an opportunity to research and support businesses that use eco-friendly packaging methods. Take it a step further by learning more about how to recycle packaging waste.

4. Rethink your shower

Conventional shampoos and conditioners come in plastic bottles that many communities can't recycle (check the resin codes on your plastic waste and see if they're accepted in your city's recycling system). Plus, they contain ingredients that may cause asthma or other human health problems and wreak havoc on water systems when they wash down the drain. Try our zero-waste shampoo and conditioner bars!

5. Recycle your electronics

You can recycle your old, unused or broken computers, tablets, phones and other electronics can often by taking them to electronic stores, manufacturers, or even your local government! By doing so protects, you help to protect our natural resources while also reducing pollution.

6. Turn off the tap

Whether you're brushing your teeth, washing dishes, or taking a shower, turn off the water when it's not needed.

7. Use reusable bags at the store

Use a backpack or bag from home, or buy reusable bags that you can keep in your car and use them again and again.

8. Buy local

Buying local produce and other items reduces shipping distances from food sourced overseas, and also supports your local business owners and communities.

9. Follow the three "R"'s

Look for ways you can 1) reduce, 2) reuse and 3) recycle throughout your home. You’ll save natural resources, energy and money, plus reduce the waste sent to landfills.

10. Educate

When you further your own education, you can help others understand the importance and value of our natural resources!

Some Tips for Sharing Sustainability

Here are a few ways you can positively share your sustainable lifestyle—because it's better to make small changes than none at all!

  1. Lead by example. Rather than simply suggesting alternatives to friends, bring your own reusable straws, mugs or cutlery to coffee dates or lunch with friends.

2. Share what you’ve learned with positivity and kindness. If you are already making moves to live a more sustainable life, realize that others might not even be on the game board or know where to start. Start with education.

3. Be more conscious about everyday decisions. For instance, next time you buy lip balm, consider if the ingredients organic or if it has eco-friendly packaging.

4. Try thrift shopping! Sustainability isn’t a one-size-fits-all romper. Thrifting is also a great way to save money and support slow fashion.

5. Read resources like The Good Trade for more tips and tricks on way to incorporate sustainability in your everyday life and join a community striving to make the world a little better and brighter.

5 Beach Bag Essentials You Need

5 Beach Bag Essentials You Need

As some of you may already know, I started Ao Organics after becoming a new mother. Being an ocean-loving family, we spend most of our family days at the beach, playing under the sun all day long! Because of this, sunscreen has always been a staple in our beach bag.

When I started to learn how toxic the sunscreens we were using were, with their harmful ingredients and chemicals, we completely stopped using them. However, at the time, it was challenging to find a brand we could trust that was 100% organic in stores. That's when I stepped into my kitchen and started making my own.

Four years later, and we've expanded our line of products since our days of just churning out reef-safe sunscreens. Here are mine and Shannele's four must-have items in our beach bag!

1. Reef-Safe Sunscreen

Our sunscreen features Hawaiian beeswax, which gives your skin water-resistant protection–perfect for all adventures under the sun! And most importantly, protects your skin from harsh UVA & UVB rays.

When my ‘ohana (family) is in the ocean and at the beach I have to pack our Liquid Reef-Safe Sunscreen because it is the easiest to spread, very much like a lotion!

2. Sunscreen Sticks

These are just like our Liquid Reef-Safe Sunscreen, but in a compact form and fun-sized–so our Sunscreen Sticks are perfect for the keiki!

Our sticks are my favorite for the kids. They can easily put it on themselves, and because of the thicker consistency from the Hawaiian beeswax, it stays on really well.

3. Golden Hour Tanning Oil

For getting your glow on, we offer five different reef-safe tanning oils, but my all-time favorite has to be the Golden Hour Tanning Oil. I love the tropical mango coconut fragrance and shimmers it leaves on my skin!

4. After Sun Spray

Our After Sun Spray is perfect after a long day under the hot Hawaiian sun. It features a blend of cucumber, lavender, Hawaiian aloe vera and spearmint–all these natural ingredients work together to soothe, calm and moisturize your skin.

Why You Need to Use a Serum and Moisturizer

Why You Need to Use a Serum and Moisturizer

Serum vs. Moisturizer

Serum

  • Thinner and lighter than moisturizers, and are always applied before your moisturizer.
  • Contain highly active ingredients that penetrate deep into your skin.
  • Designed to treat skin concerns like acne, wrinkles, antioxidant, and discoloration.
  • They are comprised of tiny molecules that are able to absorb deep into the layers of the skin.

Moisturizer

  • Thicker and creamier than serums.
  • Create a barrier that locks in moisture and nutrients.
  • The molecules in moisturizers are larger than serums, so they are meant to add moisture to the top layer of the skin.

It is beneficial to use both a serum and moisturizer. Use your serum before your moisturizer. Adding this combo to your skincare routine will give your skin a double dose of hydrating and healing ingredients!

Skin Myth

It’s okay to skip moisturizer, and just use serum alone.

Serums are truly state-of-the-art skin care products because they are potent formulations that deliver beneficial high-performance ingredients such as antioxidants, humectants or other cell-communicating components to the skin.

As beneficial as serums are, dont be tempted to skip your moisturizer, especially if the consistency of the serum you’re using resembles a lotion or an oil-based serum. Moisturizing is a crucial part of skin care! Keep in mind that your skin protects the entire body. Moisturizers protect our skin from the elements, all while hydrating and softening it. Also, while some serums contain hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, you still need to add layer a moisturizer over the serum to seal it into the skin!

Six Ways to Take Extra Care of Your Skin

Six Ways to Take Extra Care of Your Skin

March is Women's History Month! This is a month where we celebrate the women before us who paved the way to allow us boss babes to follow our dreams, and reflect on how we can realize these dreams. In order to do so, the first step is taking care of yourself, and we can help!

Skincare is more than taking care of what’s on the outside, it also requires us to care for our bodies from within too. At Ao Organics Hawai‘i, we want to be more than just the products you are using, we want to be a part of your skin health journey in all aspects. Once we care for ourselves starting from the inside out, we’ll feel ready to make history ourselves!

Here are six ways to take extra care of your skin this month:

1. Make time for stress relief

Did you know that feeling stressed triggers production of extra cortisol in the body? This hormone, which regulates our fight or flight response, is also responsible for an inability of the skin to retain moisture while also promoting an overproduction of oil in response. So you end up with dry, dull skin, and an overabundance of oil production to deal with.

AO Tip: Practice some of these stress-relief activities: take a bubble bath, light a candle and do deep breathing for 10-15 minutes, or find an activity that helps you to de-stress

2. Good fats for glowing skin

We’re not scared of fats anymore! Good fats like avocado, coconut oil, olive oil and omega 3s, are essential when it comes to keeping skin moisturized and healthy. Bonus: these fats support healthy cellular growth and function, soothe inflammation in the body, speed healing of damaged skin, and supply you with energy–now go make history babe!

3. Water temperature matters

We all know by now we should be washing our face and removing our makeup. That’s right girl–no sleeping in your makeup, ever. But did you also know the temperature of the water makes a difference when it comes to the health of your skin? Washing your face with water that is too hot can strip the sebum from your skin and zap the moisture and hydration right along with it.

AO Tip: Wash your face with lukewarm water as it will give the oil on your skin the chance to warm up for a good cleanse instead of completely washing it away. Then massage our ‘Ōlena + Honey Cleanser into your skin for a full 60 seconds to really get the most of your daily wash.

4. Wash your makeup brushes regularly

Not only does makeup residue build up on your brushes, but so does bacteria, oil, dirt, dust and sweat. By not regularly cleaning all of that grime off, you eventually will bet clogged pores, inflammation, and unwanted breakouts.

AO Tip: Make it a weekly routine to give your makeup brushes a good wash! Did you know you can even wash your makeup brushes with our Get Naked Makeup Remover?!

5. Get your body moving and exercise

Did you know that daily movement offers skin benefits as well and mental and physical ones? Exercise promotes healthy blood circulation, which in turn carries oxygen and other essential nutrients to all of your cells, including your face! That healthy dose of nutrients helps to give your face an instant glow and overall radiance. Don’t forget your post-workout skincare, either.

AO Tip: Make sure to give your face a good cleanse as softening your sweat glands can push out some of what clogs the pores and you’ll definitely want to wash off that dirt and grime afterwards!

6. Hydrate

Hydration is of the utmost importance when you’re caring for your skin, especially when it comes to preventing wrinkles and skin elasticity. If you find yourself struggling to drink enough water, you can eat your water, too! Think fruits and veggies with a high-water content like watermelon, strawberry, cucumber and cantaloupe...and don’t forget the topical application either!

AO Tip: Carry any of our facial toners with you for a refreshing dose of hydration on the go. You’ll help to maintain your skin’s balance and can help reduce inflammation and puffiness.

Shop these products to get glowing skin and feel good!

Facial Hydrators

Take time this month not only to celebrate women who've made history, but also the ones making history right now, including you babe! When you make the time to invest in yourself, care for your skin, eat healthy and live healthier, you get to get back to what you were meant to do...Make history!

Eight Anti-Aging Skincare Tips

Eight Anti-Aging Skincare Tips

One thing that we cannot change is the natural aging process.  With time, we all get visible lines on our face. It is natural for our face to lose some of its youthful fullness. We notice our skin becoming thinner and drier. Our genes largely control when these changes occur. The medical term for this type of aging is “intrinsic aging.”

We can influence another type of aging that affects our skin. Our environment and lifestyle choices can cause our skin to age prematurely. The medical term for this type of aging is “extrinsic aging.” By taking some preventive actions, we can slow the effects that this type of aging has on our skin.

Tips to help slow the effects of aging

1. Protect your skin from the sun every day.

Whether spending a day at the beach or running errands, sun protection is essential. You can protect your skin by seeking shade, covering up with sun-protective clothing — such as a lightweight and long-sleeved shirt, pants, a pāpale (wide brimmed hat), and sunglasses with UV protection — and using sunscreen that is broad-spectrum, SPF 30 (or higher), and water-resistant. You should apply sunscreen every day to all skin that is not covered by clothing.

2. If you smoke, stop.

Smoking greatly speeds up how quickly skin ages. It causes wrinkles and a dull, sallow complexion.

3. Avoid repetitive facial expressions.

This is a tough one even for me, because I am VERY expressive with my face. How many other ladies can relate?! When you make a facial expression, you contract the underlying muscles. If you repeatedly contract the same muscles for many years, these lines become permanent. Wearing sunglasses can help reduce lines caused by squinting.

4. Eat a healthy, well-balanced diet.

Findings from a few studies suggest that eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables may help prevent damage that leads to premature skin aging. Findings from research studies also suggest that a diet containing lots of sugar or other refined carbohydrates can accelerate aging.

5. Drink less alcohol.

Alcohol is rough on the skin. It dehydrates the skin, and in time, damages the skin. This can make us look older.

6. Exercise most days of the week.

Findings from a few studies suggest that moderate exercise can improve circulation and boost the immune system. This, in turn, may give the skin a more youthful appearance.

7. Wash your face twice a day and after sweating heavily.

Perspiration, especially when wearing a hat or helmet, irritates the skin, so you want to wash your skin as soon as possible after sweating. The perfect gentle cleanser is our ‘Ōlena + Honey Foaming Cleanser.

8. Apply a facial moisturizer every day.

Moisturizer traps water in our skin, giving it a more youthful appearance. I literally couldn’t recommend this more. Our ‘Ili Hydration Moisturizer is the perfect daily moisturizer for anyone who is looking for a lightweight, non-clogging facial moisturizer that can be used twice a day.

We all have an ongoing internal script that we sometimes aren’t even aware of. Become mindful of your inner voice and guide it to choose loving messages whenever the negativity starts to creep in.  Here are some empowering mantras: “I love and accept myself always” or “Self love is my birthright,” or “I am valuable.”

2. Spoil Yourself

Always remember to indulge in things that create passion and excitement in your life. These are the things that fuel you to consistently function at your best and flood you with good energy. Whether it is a great book or a walk in nature, be sure to set this valuable time aside for yourself.

3. Eat Well

Being selective about what food you choose to nourish your body with, is one of the most important forms of self love. Know how your food choices affect you and select the ones that create the highest form of energy, comfort and delight in your body.

4. Forgive Yourself

Excuse yourself for all the times that you may have lost a significant piece of yourself to find another. Deeply forgiving past mistakes and misjudgments in your past relationships will help you cultivate an open heart that is ready for new experiences.

5. Write Yourself a Love Note

Take some time to write down all of the things that you admire about yourself. Release the urge to point out your flaws. Your self-doubt muscle may be stronger than your self-love muscle at the moment, but focusing on your strengths and your gifts will fuel your mission to create more appreciation and gratitude for yourself.
